I had the pleasure of working with Usamah on a software project that delved into deep learning, and I must say, he's an absolute gem to have on the team. Not only is he super friendly and approachable, but his eagerness to learn and pitch in wherever needed truly stood out. Usamah's enthusiasm for software and deep learning is infectious, and his willingness to lend a hand made our collaboration a breeze. Lucky to have had him onboard!

Usamah is a bright spark around the office and in the labs. His enthuasim and technical ability are excellent and after checking his profile I can't believe he has been at dyson for less than two year. During an initative my team needed to use a codebase we were unfamiliar with. Usamah created and delivered a presentation on how to use it and proceeded to answer our questions over the next couple of months. All of which, was done extremely well, especially for someone in a Grad role! I look forward to seeing where Usamah takes his talents next. He will be an excellent asset on any team.

Usamah is a great person. He really gets very quickly the coding and data processing requirements of a project to map Australian wildfires. He understand the nature of the satellite data and was able to liaise with a large multinational company to help deliver the results. I would hire Usamah again in a flash. Hard working, dedicated and a nice person all round.

Senior Autonomy Engineer

Usamah joined my team duration a rotation as part of his graduate program. He worked towards adding new features in our ML-based computer vision framework, including the development of novel image augmentation techniques to generate large quantities of quality training data. He received strong positive feedback from his supervisor/mentor during this time. Further, after this supervisor left the business, Usamah demonstrated the ability to work independently, set project direction, and maintain communication with stakeholders, and in this way he continued to deliver valuable tools and features. Besides his direct responsibilities, Usamah helped the team in various ways, leveraging his experience in other parts of the company to quickly solve challenges we were facing. This came both in the form of technical contributions, but also by connecting us to the right people in other groups. He was a sociable and fun member of the team, and was very communicative and supportive. I'm sure he will be a great asset to any future team going forward!

Usamah completed a rotation in our group as a graduate software engineer, specializing in image data labeling and training pipelines. He did an excellent job, leveraging pre-trained VLM to significantly reduce data labeling costs and time. Usamah is a true team player, always willing to assist with tasks beyond his primary responsibilities, such as helping with data collection. His eagerness to learn and his enthusiasm for pursuing new ideas make him an invaluable asset to any team. I highly recommend Usamah for any role that requires a proactive and innovative software engineer with a strong collaborative spirit.
Brian Tufnell
Scrum Master
Systems Engineering and Assessment
I first had the pleasure of working with Usamah at Dyson when he joined a team in the robotics division where I was the scrum master. He was on the 2-year graduate engineer programme which requires people to rotate into a different team every 6 months or so. He integrated seamlessly within each team, and quickly picked up the new knowledge and skills required for the working domain. Within my team he was responsible for maintaining the software for the planning and navigation subsystem of the robot vacuum, and for delivering new features and improvements. Subsequently I became his line manager and I was able to extend his last graduate rotation in upstream robotics, where he successfully applied himself to novel areas of research in robotic vision. He can communicate with clarity at all levels in an organisation, such as giving demonstrations of his work to the wider department and, on occasion, to the Dyson CEO. Usamah is an enthusiastic and capable software engineer who can be relied upon to deliver quality software solutions on time and would be an asset to any team.
Mantas Navickas
Senior Embedded Software Developer
Dyson
I had the pleasure of working with Usamah in one of the Dyson embedded software development teams. Despite Usamah being a fresh graduate, he displayed a high degree of knowledge and an even higher capability to learn. He got up to speed with our ways of working and began contributing himself very quickly. Usamah was very competent and became a highly contributing member of the team to the degree that one could easily forget that he was a recent graduate. He also showed a great degree of interest in complex topics and did not shy away from complicated work, which showcases his character and capability of seeing things through. Beyond professional competency though, I found Usamah to be personable and easy to work with. He was a great addition to the team and I'm glad I had the chance to work with him.
